Growing up in Wayne, PA, Dr. Tom Taney developed a passion for medicine, science, and animals at a very young age. Inspired by his sister, who is currently a veterinary dental and oral surgery specialist, Dr. Taney pursued an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following this, he achieved his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Taney then completed a one-year small animal medicine and surgery internship at Tufts University. He also received an additional year of specialty training in Emergency and Critical Care medicine at the Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Taney has been an Emergency Veterinarian for the last seven years and previously served as the department head of the Emergency Service at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital. He received extensive training at the Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging in Cardiac Ultrasound.
He is a proud member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, and Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association. He has a special interest in echocardiography (heart ultrasound), emergency ultrasound, emergency medicine and critical care, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Taney’s vision for Epic Veterinary Urgent Care is to bring his expertise and experience in emergency medicine to an urgent care setting and continue to provide affordable, compassionate, comprehensive, and high-quality urgent medical care for his patients.
Dr. Taney and his wife Lydia share their home with a perfect twelve-year-old pit bull named Audrey and three mischievous cats, B’J, Cheese, and Jones. In his spare time, he enjoys going out to eat, craft cocktails and wine, weightlifting, training for an Ironman triathlon, and doing anything on the beach.
